French rider Sylvain Guintoli (Aprilia Racing Team Aprilia RSV4 Factory) has taken pole position for Race One of the 2014 World Superbike Championship at Phillip Island. Guintoli beat Davide Giugliano (Ducati Superbike Team Ducati 1199 Panigale R) by 97/1000 sec with Guintoli's team mate Marco Melandri a further 2/10 sec back in third. Eugene Laverty (Volcom Crescent Suzuki, Suzuki GSX-R 1000) makes up the front row of the grid.

Leading rider coming into qualifying Alex Lowes (Volcom Crescent Suzuki, Suzuki GSX-R 1000) leads off the second row from Jonothon Rea (PATA Honda World Superbike Honda CBR1000RR), Loris Baz (Kawasaki Racing Team Kawasaki ZX-10R), and Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team Kawasaki ZX-10R). Sykes crashed in Superpole Two at Lukey heights, lucky to avoid a highside.
